Tilda peeps over to Magnolia Down Under's Stitches Challenge

Hello to all of you,
I hope you have had a wonderful weekend so far,
lots of relaxing and crafting I hope!!
It is time for another challenge at
Magnolia Down Under
and this week we challenge you to use
STITCHING,
real or faux or even paper
on your creations!!
There's a delish prize lined up from
BizzY Becs,
be sure to stop by and see what the
impressively fabulous design team girlies have crafted,
and then get to work on your stitchy Maggie project.

So those who regularly read the smut I push off as blogging know that my sewing machine and I are having a fight. It's nothing too severe, she will get over it if I listen to her needs, show a little sensitivity, maybe buy her some new thread or a fancy cover.... Just in time for the stitching challenge!! I keep breaking the needles, think the tension is off or something, I'll be trying again, but she is still mad so she might continue on with the needle breaking bullspit. I guess what I am trying to say is that I used faux stitching on my project, with protest.

I have coloured this lovely Maggie, kindly stamped for me by The Fabulous Sue Drees, with distress inks and Stickles, the pot that Tilda is sitting on is a built-up Penny Black image, I masked off several different PB stamps to arrive at that pot, as well as a Magnolia fence from the Shabby Chic collection. The checkered paper is K & Co. and the floral is Prima. I've folded some doilies to act as borders for my image and sentiment, sentiment is computer-generated, Blackadder font, my fave!! I took inspiration from Linda The Funkie Junkie and had a go with a button, somehow running lace through it makes it okay, buttons can be fab, oh yes, they can be fab!! Thanks for the inspiration Linda!!

Some of you will notice that my project is a little different than what was posted at MDUC. Dear Tab at 7 Kids College Fund sent out my emergency Maggie order of a couple older Easter images to pass the time while I anxiously wait for the new release..... These little chicks came this afternoon so I got to work completing my project, thanks Tab!! A lot of my cards turn into easle cards I just never update the post.

Sooo onto challlenges:
Fussy and Fancy: Easter
Just Magnolia: Sketch

more to come but my ass is sore from all this sitting, will finish this up in a bit!! Thanks for coming by and visiting, I hope your weekend is going wonderfully!!
Stephanne

Stunning card and excellent faux stitching!

Have a gentle word with your sewing machine and show her some love and I'll sure she'll be fine! You could tell her that there is a sewing machine heaven if she doesn't behave...

I've had mine for about 10 years and she's sitting in her box after shortening a pair of curtains but after seeing your stunning creations we may well be making friends...

Excellent blog and great ideas. Hope you don't mind me popping back but I won't be stealing your ideas, just learning! Hoping to get some Maggies very soon as I only have one at the moment and I love her when I get the time to say hello...

Hope your relaxing weekend continues and look forward to seeing more.

Hope your ass is better, lol!

Hugs

Tammy xx

My Dear Stephanne ... hmmmm ... well, looks like your girl the sewing machine is just refusing to cooperate with you huh? What did you do to her?! What did you say to her the last time?! LOL! She sounds really pee'd off at you for the moment! LOL! You crack me up! But hey, on the brighter note .. when I saw the picture of your card before I read the post, I was thinking, "OHHH! She got her machine fixed!" So, that shows ... your faux stitching looks like the real thing baby ... even better! :)

Now your card ... my oh my! What another GORGEOUS creation this is!!! All those flowers and embellies, and that FANTASTIC colouring! Wowee! That punches of red in there is brilliant! And are those doilies or did you use punches?!! Whatever it is, i LOVE them! This is absolutely BEAUTIFULLY STUNNING! Thanks for always being an inspiration! :)
luv,
Elise

Wow Stephanne, when I read the challenge faux or real, I scrolled down and looked at your card and said "she did real" then I read your post! Can't believe how real that stitching looks. Sounds like a lot of work to get the flower pot so perfect, I hate masking...lol but your creation is superb! I love the spring colours your chose, hope you're having a great weekend!!!!

Hahaha, I never considered your posts as smut before, you are one warped lady :) I will be calling your blog craft porn from now on!! Before I get into the gushing over how awesomly Stahptacular your fabby card is today I have to ask, is that font actually called Blackadder or is that just what you call it? Eother way it makes sense.
I noticed a lot of people are taking the sewing machines side in this arguement so I thought I would let you know I am will you on this one, you need to show her who's boss and having a sulk by snapping needles is not helping! That said I was going to show my poor neglected machine some love yesterday when I was making a card and then finished it off and completely forgot about the sewing... whoops. I thought about pulling it apart and doing the sewing but could not be bothered, lol.
So... I am loving the card, you are a very good little crafter to go to all the effort of masking, I'm too lazy and just cut things out and stick them on. The sewing looks amazingle real (maybe you don't need the sewing machine after all, that should scare her into behaving!) and the flowers and lace and bows all look wonderful. The button thing is a great idea, I love buttons but they never seem to work for me, I will so have to try this.
oops, that was a bit of a waffle, haha, catch ya later, Snoogens!

I love those cute chicks--perfect with this Tilda! The doily borders are brilliant, and the touches of red are gorgeous. What a lovely Easter card! Fabulous faux stitching--it looks real! I think sewing machines really resent being expected to stitch on paper. Every time I do it, mine makes me feel guilty that I'm not sewing something more permanent, like a quilt!

April
